University House and WMG access restricted

Entry to University House and WMG buildings will remain at a single point of access until further notice.

Students who have a prior written appointment at University House will be permitted into the building provided they can show written/email permission and ID. You will need to be prepared to show your university ID to Community Safety staff and keep it visible while in the buildings.

Please be assured that these measures are in place to help the University continue its normal activity and above all, keep everyone safe and secure. The demonstration is being monitored and managed in line with our legal duty. Universities are bastions of critical thinking and open dialogue, where free speech is vigorously protected. However, racism, antisemitism, Islamophobia, and any form of abuse, incitement, or harassment which is targeted at an individual or group is not acceptable.

We are aware of a demonstration that took place on Wednesday 14 May outside Senate House. The demonstration was by Warwick Stands with Palestine.

University House and WMG access restricted

WMG buildings have moved to a single point of access until further notice, in response to a planned rally. You will need to be prepared to show your university ID to Community Safety staff and keep it visible while in the buildings.

University House is closed to students for general access until further notice. However, students who have a prior written appointment at University House will be permitted into the building provided they can show written/email permission and ID.

On Wednesday 22 January, access to University House will be restricted to staff only, and WMG buildings will move to a single point of access. This is in response to a planned rally at lunchtime on Wednesday.

University House will close to students for general access from Tuesday at 10pm and remain closed to students until Thursday morning, 23 January. However, students who have a prior written appointment at University House will be permitted into the building provided they can show written/email permission and ID.

On Wednesday 22 January, there will also be a single point of access for all WMG buildings. You will need to be prepared to show your university ID to Community Safety staff and keep it visible while in the buildings.

On Friday 22 November, access to University House will be restricted to staff only, and WMG buildings will move to a single point of access. This is in response to a planned rally at lunchtime on Friday.

University House will close to students from 6pm on Thursday 21 November and remain closed to students until Saturday morning, 23 November. Students who have a prior written appointment at University House will be permitted into the building provided they can show written/email permission and ID.

From 8am on Friday 22 November, there will be a single point of access for all WMG buildings. Students and staff will only be able to enter the following buildings through these designated entrances:

• AMMC – Main entrance
• DAC – Main entrance
• EIC – Front entrance
• IDL – Main front entrance (first floor at the top of the ramp)
• IINM – Main entrance
• IIPSI – Main entrance
• IMC – Main entrance and workshop access
• MEC – Main entrance

You will need to be prepared to show your university ID to Community Safety staff and keep it visible while in the buildings.

On Thursday 21 November and Friday 22 November, WMG buildings will close at 6pm. Weekend access will continue to be by request only.

University House has re-opened to students today.

We are aware of a demonstration happening at the entrance of the STEM Careers Fair in the Rootes Building today. Please note that the Fair is still running, and staff are on hand to help students access the Fair through an alternative entrance.

University House is currently closed to students. The only exception will be if you have written confirmation of an appointment. This includes the Learning Grids, which are closed temporarily, and we ask that you instead use the many other study spaces available across campus.

All WMG buildings will also move to a single point of entry from today. Please note that all WMG buildings will be closed from 6pm on Tuesday 1 October and Friday 4 October. All WMG buildings will also be closed over the weekend and access will not be permitted or possible. Please look out for any local communications from your departments.

The Community Safety Team will provide support if the demonstration moves across campus. You may be asked for your University ID to enter some buildings or asked to use different routes than normal.
