University Explorers

University Explorers is a fun educational programme that gives children in care a positive first experience of higher education (HE). Across four days on campus, pupils try out academic taster sessions, explore the university and make friends - supported by trained student ambassadors.

• Academic tasters: Take part in interactive sessions across our three faculties - Science, Arts and Social Sciences - and discover exciting new subjects.
• Explore the campus: Enjoy guided walks around our beautiful campus, visiting key buildings, student facilities and green spaces.
• Group activities: Join fun team challenges to make friends, develop new skills, and build confidence.
• Meet student ambassadors: Hear what university is really like and ask questions.
• Learn about university life: Chat with current students, hear what university life is really like, and ask all your questions.
• Discover university life: Learn how studying works and find out about clubs, societies and everything that makes university unique.

University Explorers is more than just a campus visit - it's an experience designed to help children in care grow in confidence, curiosity and connection. Here's what makes is special:

• A positive introduction to higher education: Pupils see that university is a welcoming place where they belong.
• Confidence-building opportunities: Through fun activities and teamwork, children discover new strengths and celebrate achievements.
• Friendship and peer support: Meeting others with similar experiences helps pupils feel part of a supportive network.
• Essential transferrable skills: Communication, problem-solving, planning and creativity are just some of the skills that pupils will develop - skills that support success in school and beyond.
• Inspiration for the future: By exploring subjects and meeting real students, pupils start to imagine exciting possibilities for their own journey.

• Duration: Four days spread over approximately one month
• Times: Each day runs from 10.00am to 2.30pm including break and a relaxed lunch
• Location: On campus at the University of Warwick. Full details and directions will be provided once your place is confirmed.
