What UniExplorers achieved in 2026
In spring 2026, 17 Year 6 pupils in care from Coventry, Warwickshire and Solihull joined us for four exciting days on campus. They explored university life, met student ambassadors, and built confidence and skills. Here’s what changed—and what pupils, carers, and schools had to say.
Skills growth:
- Improvements were seen in confidence, teamwork and talking to new people
- Strongest gains in social skills (talking to new people +0.59)
- Teamwork and communication developed through group projects and challenges
Knowledge gains:
- Better understanding of university life (+0.99)
- Increased awareness of courses (+0.88) and campus facilities (+1.00)
- Learned how students study (+0.94) and explored career pathways (+0.59)
Biggest benefit:
The most frequently reported benefits of the programme for pupils was in working with/speaking to new people and sharing ideas. They valued the opportunity to socialise with other young people and form friendships.
