Get Involved! The Big Read - Public Day

- Export as iCalendar

It’s finally happening, the Big Read is coming to the University of Warwick on Tuesday 28th March and Sunday 2nd April 2023!

A celebration of reading, stories and the imagination, the Big Read is taking place in the Theatre, Studio and foyer of our wonderful Warwick Arts Centre where members of the public will be able to take part in huge read-alongs in the Theatre and Studio. Before and after our guests are able to learn about a variety of topics related to reading (story-telling, languages, book making, performing etc.) at the stands and stalls in the WAC foyer, as well as get selfies with some modern and classic characters from fiction. And we need your help to do it!

To make the Big Read the huge success we know it can be we are looking for:

  • Narrators to read selected stories on stage
  • Actors to support the telling of stories
  • Producers to help make each read-along great and the show go smoothly
  • Interactive stalls or stands of things related to reading and stories (as broad as you can)
  • Characters from fiction (in hired costume) and get photos with our guests
  • General support for our giveaway tables, evaluation stand, welcoming guests etc.

Sunday 2nd is open to members of the public, currently targeted at primary aged pupils and will run from 11am to 3pm.

University of Warwick staff, students, alumni and friends are welcome to get involved and if you would like to get involved but aren’t sure if the idea you have would work please let us know via the Warwick Institute of Engagement email: wie@warwick.ac.uk
