International Engagement Learning Circle Meeting

This session will involve 2 presentations from colleagues working in international engagement. Shameen Jinadasa from Central Queensland University, Australia will be discussing Engineering with Communities: Public Engagement in Humanitarian Engineering 9-9:30am, and Representatives from the Warwick Venice Centre will be speaking about their Public Engagement Strategy 9:30-10am. There will be an opportunity for questions after each talk.
Dr Jinadasa is an Associate Professor and Discipline Lead in Humanitarian Engineering at Central Queensland University. He has led multinational, multidisciplinary research teams across Australia, Asia, and the USA to address complex water and environmental challenges. His expertise spans community engagement in engineering projects, water quality management, wastewater treatment and reuse, and climate resilience. A defining feature of his work is strong public and community engagement, including leading community-driven water restoration projects and humanitarian engineering initiatives. He has received several international recognitions, including the Fulbright Award (USA) and the Outstanding Engineering Achievement Award (ASEAN), reflecting his impact in integrating engineering solutions with community needs .
