The Booknic (a mash-up of 'book' and 'picnic') is the final event taking place as part of Coventry Schools Art Week (23 June - 29 June).
The event will celebrate community, reading and learning. Taking place at Coventry Memorial Park, the event will kick-off with a parade, followed by interactive activities, creative and sports workshops, circus skills and performances from schools themselves!
This is a Coventry schools activity led by Earlsdon Primary School and supported by the Warwick Institute of Engagement on behalf of the University of Warwick.
In the sections below schools can find all the information they'll need to sign up, parents/carers can find details of the day and staff at the University can find out how to get involved.
For Parents/Carers - Key Information

Field opposite the playground, Coventry War Memorial Park
This is an informal, free event for Coventry School children and their adults to enjoy a range of activities linked to reading, sport and arts. Bring yourselves, any instruments or crowns you might have made and a picnic!
Although teachers from your school may be present at this event, you remain responsible for your children at all times.

For Schools
Participate in the Parade
Everyone is welcome at the Parade!
Collect your banner material, check out the 'Guidance for Banner Making' below and make your banner! You may also make anything else to add to your Parade experience. Why not make crowns, or shakers?
We recommend focusing on one year group or club, and preparing them for the parade. Within your school, you may wish to have a sign-up, so you know how many of your children are planning to attend.

Participate in the Schools Stage
You can book a 5 minute slot for your students to perform onstage! We'll have space near the stage for your students to gather in the 10 minutes before your slot begins.
Your school could act a scene from a play, read a poem, play some music or anything else you can think of!

Run a Stall
Book a stall to run a book-themed event eg do a book quiz or have a bookmark design table. Your PTA could raise some money for your school by selling cakes or snacks.
