Teaching with ancient artefacts: an introduction for secondary-school teachers to interdisciplinary
approaches to ancient visual and material culture, showcasing recent Warwick
research

38 teachers from 32 schools attended, and enjoyed being able to view objects in the Coin Room (and especially to handle
real coins), the Cast Gallery, Randolph Gallery, and Rome Gallery. The day included a lecture by Dan Orrells on his recent research on Winckelmann, and workshops on Classical Art led by Zahra Newby, on Coins led by Clare Rowan and Chris Howgego, and on Epigraphy led by Alison Cooley and Jane Masseglia. The Head of Education at the Ashmolean and the Classics Outreach Officer from Oxford gave short presentations. The day was organised by Jane Masseglia. It was supported financially by the University of Warwick (Institute of Advanced Study), Classics Outreach (Oxford)
