Structure

Remember:

  • title page
  • table of contents (giving page refs for intro, chapters, notes, bibl, list of illustrations, appendix of sculptural types, etc)
  • introduction
  • text/chapters
  • notes (but these may be at the bottom of each page as footnotes)
  • bibliography
  • illustrations/ photographs/ graphs/ maps/ tables (but these may be better in the text or on a page facing the relevant text)

NB photographic plates, diagrams and maps must be numbered, eg Plate 1 or Fig. 2, and the precise reference incorporated in the text/notes. The origin of such material must be given.

Footnotes: keep them short & use them mainly for references or cross-references.
