Free SMLC Tai chi sessions - All Welcome!
Tai chi is a well-known Chinese martial arts form. Through a series of very slow, choreographed movements, when practising Tai Chi, you will stretch many parts of the body, increase leg strength, muscle flexibility and improve balance. Its slow, relaxed movements incorporated with breathing technique help you to relax the mind and be more focused. Tai chi has become an exercise for maintaining health and a way of self-cultivation and has gained popularity among both young and old around the world.
SMLC has organized free weekly Tai chi sessions each Wednesday from 12-12:45pm throughout term 2 on 9 Feb, 16 Feb, 23 Feb, 2 Mar, 9 Mar, 16 Mar. In these sessions you will be introduced to Tai chi quan 24 Form, a standard simplified Tai chi quan version with step-by-step instructions. To learn the whole routine, you are suggested to attend all the sessions. However, you can also pop in any session for a taste.
Whether you want to explore some Chinese culture, gently exercise your body, or try a different physical activity, you are welcome to join these sessions. No special preparation is needed, but some space to allow you to stretch arms and legs fully. Loose clothes are recommended.
All the sessions will be on Microsoft Teams.
