FTV alumni take part in online jobs/employability event
On Friday 6 March, Julie Lobalzo Wright (Director of Student Experience and Progression) hosted four alumni for an illuminating online event for current Film and Television Studies students.
The alumni who took part were:
Rory Bines-Morris BA Film and Literature Studies (with year abroad) (2020) | MA (research for) Film and Television Studies (2021)- Film Programmer (Freelance) at the Depot Cinema in Lewes;
Katia Hiver BA Film Studies (2024)- Filmmaker and Curator;
Alice Evans BA Film and Literature (2024)- Picture Researcher and Administrative Assistant at Bauer Media Group;
Maddie Moss-Williams BA Film Studies (2025)- Digital Experience Executive at Probrand;
Each alumni spoke about the current job market and various strategies they found helped the transition from university into a career. While they all agreed that the current job market is tough, they also indicated that it is important to be available for opportunities, including volunteer opportunities while at university, to apply for a wide spectrum of jobs, such as those that relate to skills developed on your degree, and how important it can be to make connections, such as reaching out to possible employers on LinkedIn. Finally, they all agreed that keeping in touch with classmates might be the best strategy of all as they will be the people shaping industries in the future.
Thank you again to our amazing alumni for giving up their time!
