Digital Archive
The project’s digital archive will contain digitised primary materials from the following archives: the Mara Blasetti and Cecilia Mangini archives (held by our partner the Cineteca di Bologna), and the Cecchi D’Amico family archive (including papers of Suso Cecchi D’Amico, Silvia D’Amico, and Caterina D’Amico). Through the project team’s work, these resources will be critically positioned to challenge the dominant narrative of Italian film history. The digital archive will also include material on women found in other archives, photographs, press articles, and videos of oral testimonies collected for this project. These will be accompanied by explanatory interventions and study guides for researchers and other users. This open-access repository will allow for new research to emerge in the areas of Italian cinema and culture, production studies, gendered labour, oral history, and other aspects of the film sector and creative industries at large.

Exhibitions
A photographic exhibition of women of the film industry over the period 1940s – 1980s will be held at II Cinema Ritrovato FestivalLink opens in a new window in Bologna. The material will consist of images discovered in the course of archival research, obtained through institutional collaboration and borrowed from interviewees. The exhibition will also be staged by CinemaItalia UKLink opens in a new window in London and then integrated into the digital archive.
Documentaries
Two documentaries of approximately 45 minutes will be made with the support and input of the project team in collaboration with the Cineteca di Bologna. They will be informed by the perspectives and findings of the research. Following public presentation, they will be integrated with the digital archive to create a lasting resource. The first film will focus on Mara Blasetti and international film-making in the 1960s-1970s. The second film will look at Cecilia Mangini and the documentary genre in women’s work. A third research-led film output will re-mix extracts from project video-interviews in five thematic shorts in order to create a dynamic creative synergy between past and present experiences. All three films will be showcased at film festivals and cultural institutions.
