About

Daniel Zacariotti, Brazilian researcher pursuing a PhD in Film and Television Studies at the University of Warwick, delves into the subversion of fascist ideals within queer Brazilian cinema during far-right political eras. Supervised by Prof. Karl Schoonover and Dr Tiago de Luca, Daniel's research adopts a queer and decolonial standpoint to challenge and unravel ultra-conservative values deeply ingrained in Brazilian society. Daniel is also a co-founder and co-convenor of the Sex:Queer Research NetworkLink opens in a new window. Daniel holds an MA (2022) in Communication and Consumer Practices from ESPM-SP, a BA (2018) in Performing Arts from UnB, and a BA (2018) in Communication from UCB. His work, focusing on LGBTQIA+ rights, amplifies his exploration into the transformative power of queer cinema in reshaping societal narratives within Brazil's complex socio-political landscape.
