Year 1 Module Registration
Liberal Arts modules
In Year 1, you'll study a combination of Liberal Arts core modules and optional core modules:
- core modules are compulsory for all Liberal Arts students - you will be automatically enrolled on these modules
- optional core modules give you a choice about which Liberal Arts modules to study in order to fulfil the programme requirements - you need to choose which modules to study

Enrolling on eVision
To confirm your Liberal Arts module choices you need to complete module enrolment on eVision - this is one of the University's central systems.
eVision enrolment opens in Welcome Week. In Liberal Arts, we have a module registration breakfast to help you navigate the process.
The Liberal Arts core modules will automatically be added to your eVision record; in Welcome Week, you will need to choose which Liberal Arts optional core modules you want to study by selecting them on eVision. Once you've completed module enrolment, teaching sessions for your chosen optional core modules will be added to your timetable.
If you encounter any issues with completing module enrolment on eVision, please contact the Liberal Arts Undergraduate Office. You can stop by R3.38 or email liberalarts@warwick.ac.uk
Subject Area Modules
Within Liberal Arts, you can study a range of optional modules as part of a Disciplinary Route or a Specialist Pathway.
For a Disciplinary Route, you must study at least 30 CATS in the subject area in Year 1: most subjects have specific module requirements, which are detailed in the sections below.
We recommend starting on a Disciplinary Route in Year 1 if there is a particular subject that you are interested in. Starting a Route does not commit you to studying the subject in the future, but keeps the option open for you: you can always decide to move off the Route at a later point in your studies, should you wish to.
For a Specialist Pathway, you are free to choose optional modules from those available to external students across the University, including modules offered by our partner departments, listed in the Route modules section below.
Enrolling on subject area modules
There are two key steps you need to complete to enrol on subject area modules:
- module registration: getting permission from the department running the module. This is usually done by emailing the department or completing an online form. Details of how to register for Route modules and other popular departments can be found further down this page.
- module enrolment: selecting the module on eVision. This will be completed in Welcome Week, once eVision enrolment opens.
Please note that you must complete BOTH steps in order to enrol on subject area modules. Students who do not complete both steps are liable to be removed from modules at short notice.
If a department requests confirmation that you have permission from Liberal Arts to study their modules, please ask your personal tutor, who will be happy to provide this where appropriate.
Contacting Departments
For most subject area modules, you will need to email the deparment to register for your chosen modules. Details of how to register and who to contact for Route modules and some of the more popular departments across the University are available in the sections below.
Key information to include in your email:
- a friendly greeting! (for example, Dear Classics Undergraduate Office or Hello)
- your name and student ID
- details of your degree programme - either that you're a Liberal Arts student, or that you're a Liberal Arts student on their specific Route
- the name and code of the module(s) that you would like to study this year
For example:
Dear Classics Undergraduate Office,
My name is Flynn Rider (ID 100000). I'm a student on the Liberal Arts with Classics Route and would like to pre-register for CX101 Super Old History for this academic year.
If there is any further information I need to provide for module registration, please do let me know.
Best wishes,
Flynn
Route modules
There are 13 Disciplinary Routes available to study in Liberal Arts. Details of the modules you are required to study in Year 1 and how to register for these modules are available in the tabs below.
You are very welcome to study modules within these departments even if you are not on a Disciplinary Route. These modules would form part of your optional choice modules.
Please note that all module registrations are subject to permission from the department, student eligibility, and module availability.
If any online module enrolment forms are unavailable, please contact the department running the module you are interested in via email for further information.
Optional modules
Whether you're on a Disciplinary Route or Specialist Pathway, in Liberal Arts you can study modules from across the University, provided that they are open to external students and that you meet any requisites.
You are very welcome to study modules from any of the departments above, whether or not you are on a Route with them. You can study the Route modules listed above, or other modules within these departments that are open to external students.
You can find information about the modules available in popular departments in the tabs below, as well as details of how to find information in the University's module catalogue.

Timetables
Your personal timetable will be generated on Tabula once you have completed module enrolment on eVision in Welcome Week. It can take a day or two for the timetable to be generated, so please don't worry if all your modules aren't showing up instantly.
For some modules, you may need to self-enrol in seminars. Details of which modules require this will be available on departmental websites, available via the links above.
While you are waiting for your personal timetable to be generated, you can check the timetable for modules on the central timetabling website, following the guidance below.
