Monash Warwick Alliance Education Exchange Scheme

Recent exchange trips

Trauma-Informed Pedagogies

Dr Helen Nolan (Warwick) and Dr Emily Berger (Monash)

This exchange is very timely given the geo-political context that we are currently in. The exchange and collaboration aim to design and deliver trauma-informed professional learning resources and training for both Warwick and Monash. This project has significant support from the Director of Teaching and Learning and Provost at Monash. Both Helen and Emily are experts in this field and leading a number of initiatives in this area within their research and teaching. This collaboration will enable the creation of a new partnership in this space between Warwick and Monash. The resources and outcomes of the project will be of benefit to colleagues at Warwick, Monash and beyond. There will be opportunities to share practice and experiences at both institutions and again, work in this space will also inform other developments across Warwick including work undertaken by the newly created Compassionate Pedagogies Learning Circle.

Monash University Malaysia Information Exchange

Dr Tridib Saha and Jess Humphreys

Monash University Malaysia (MUM) is launching a Fellowship program, and undertaking new initiatives to support the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) at the campus. This visit to WIHEA will provide Dr Saha with the chance to learn about relevant activities and potential mentorship opportunities, alongside the ways that the Academy both supports teaching-focused staff in their development and facilitates new initiatives and policy changes both internally and beyond.

He will meet with WIHEA leadership and Learning Circle leads to learn about the Academy's activities, exploring successes and success measures and understanding what to avoid in the establishment of a similar Fellowship scheme at MUM.

Dr Saha visited Warwick in July 2024

Digital transformation and AI: Reducing barriers to adoption by educators and envisioning the future of teaching, learning and assessing

Dr Isabel Fischer (Warwick) and Dr Ari Seligmann (Monash)

The focus of this exchange is on how we encourage colleagues to adopt the use of AI in teaching and learning and envision the future of teaching, learning and assessment. Isabel and Ari plan to develop a series of resources (including video and print) for use by colleagues both at Warwick and Monash and more widely. The exchange will provide an opportunity for colleagues to share and benefit from knowledge, approaches, and practices within the two institutions. The project leads have a proven extensive track record of developing and sharing similar materials with the wider community. This mutual exchange provides an opportunity for further discussion, and development of ideas and will also inform the work of the WIHEA AI in Education Learning Circle. There will be opportunities at both institutions for Isabel and Ari to share work with the wider community and liaise with senior leadership.

Dr Seligmann visited Warwick in April 2024

Dr Fischer visited Monash on 23 May to 1 June 2024
