IAS Awards
The IAS awards offer Warwick academics the opportunity to develop new research areas and research-related outputs. Any activity which advances the mission of IAS can be undertaken with the IAS awards and it is intended that academics can use this resource to undertake more speculative activities that may not be funded from other sources. Exchanges: The Interdisciplinary Reseach Journal
Research Culture Special Issue Published
The big issue – and the emphasis is on ‘big’ – is the publication of our long awaited and much anticipated Research Cultures special issue. Developed in partnership with the National Centre for Research Culture, this features papers from and inspired by last year’s fantastic International Research Cultures Conference (IRCC ‘23). It is the biggest issue we have ever published and has been a considerable effort from a lot of dedicated associate editors (and myself) behind the scenes, and some brilliant and engaged authors too. Naturally, my thanks to everyone who played a part big or small in bringing this issue to publication.
You can read the issue via the DOI link: https://doi.org/10.31273/eirj.v11i3
In the meantime, we’ll be starting work on our IRCC ‘24 special issue next month, which will come out of this year’s conference event.
Updated FAQs
I thought it was time to do a little spring (summer?) cleaning on our Frequently Asked Questions page. It might not be the most heavily visited part of our site, but I believe it collates a range of highly useful advice based on the sort of specific questions I get week in and week out from our contributors. Hopefully, what is there now is as current as we can make it, and more importantly useful to our authors, reviewers and readers alike. Have a look if you’ve not visited before – or if you’ve got a question that’s not covered – do get in touch!
Journal Server Migration
Due to a planned server migration for Exchanges, and the other Warwick University Press Journals, during the first week of September (w/b 2nd September) there is a possibility that access to the site may be restricted. While we will endeavour to keep this to a minimum readers, reviewers and editors should be aware there may be periods of time during the week when they will not be able to login or access Exchanges. Our apologies in advance for any issues this creates. However, this work is to enable future platform developments and improvements for the journal, which will help to improve our services going forward. In the meantime, our thanks for bearing with us.
Contacting Exchanges
Contact the Editor-in-Chief, Dr Gareth J Johnson (exchangesjournal@warwick.ac.uk) to learn more about Exchanges. Exchanges also maintains a range of social media presences to highlight ongoing work, calls for papers and opportunities with the journal.
About Exchanges
Exchanges: The Interdisciplinary Research Journal is a non-fee charging, open-access, scholar-led, interdisciplinary journal, published twice-annually by Warwick’s Institute of Advanced Study (IAS) since 2013. Primarily run by and for early-career researchers (post-docs and some PGRs), it attracts articles from around the world which are read by an international and cross-disciplinary audience. Since 2020 it has increasingly published a series of highly regarded special issues, dedicated to particular themes in collaboration with scholars around the world.
