TIA Centre Hosts Strategic Workshop
Last week saw 35+ internal and external stakeholders attend a Workshop run by the University of Warwick’s TIA Centre on Campus. The focus of the workshop was to brainstorm about the future direction for the TIA Centre and priorities in computational pathology. It was a great meeting, and we heard from other stakeholders about how they thought their work could fit with the future direction of the TIA Centre.
Early in the new year we will be working on the development of our future strategy, so the workshop was very timely and gave us a lot of material to incorporate into plans. Thank you to all those who participated. Read more.

Scaling New Heights: Reflections on ICCV 2025 in Hawaii
This year’s International Conference on Computer Vision, one of the world’s leading biennial events in the field, drew over 7,000 researchers from 65 countries to the Hawaii Convention Centre, with only 2.6% from the UK. As one of this 2.6%, I was thrilled to attend and present my latest work amid the palm-lined boulevards and ocean breezes of Honolulu. No offence to Leeds, but the backdrop was a far cry from my last conference, where I presented the ASTERLink opens in a new window segmentation model at MIUA. With the excitement of the venue, sunny skies, and opportunity to explore Hawaii for the first time, it was hard to imagine a more appealing setting for scientific exchange. Read more.

MIUA 2025: A First-Time Conference Experience in Leeds
29th UK Conference on Medical Image Understanding and Analysis, Leeds (15th - 17th July 2025)
This July, I was fortunate to attend my first in-person academic conference: the 29th UK Conference on Medical Image Understanding and Analysis (MIUA 2025) in Leeds, which brings together an international community focused on advancing the use of AI in medical imaging. As a PhD student in this area, I’d previously experienced conferences only through my screen. Participating virtually in ICLR 2022 felt like a very different experience due to the pandemic. The unfamiliarity of Leeds added a sense of adventure; some last-minute research into the city’s history and sights piqued my excitement for both the place and the gathering. Read more.
