Warwick Chemistry Charter of Collegiality
Our Charter of Collegiality
Establishing and maintaining a productive, efficient, and pleasant work environment is dependent on good collegiality, which is a joint effort of all members of the Department. To achieve this, we expect that:
- Colleagues communicate in a constructive, respectful, and timely manner.
- Colleagues attend and actively participate in departmental meetings to the best of their ability.
- Requests for information or action are reasonable, have practical deadlines, and considerate of colleagues' responsibilities and limitations.
- Colleagues respond to requests for information or action within the given timeline, or if it's not possible, communicate promptly.
- Decisions are sound, made transparently, and communicated effectively and promptly.
- Colleagues will accept collective decisions, respect them, and acknowledge that disagreements may arise.
- Colleagues are adaptable and dedicate their time to work collaboratively on activities for the greater good.
- Colleagues recognise and are aware of broader Department and University issues beyond their individual interests.
- We appreciate the strengths and weaknesses of colleagues, take encouragement from the former, and support the improvement of the latter.
- We share our knowledge and experience to support and motivate each other.
- We acknowledge and praise good collegiality and challenge poor collegiality.
- It is the responsibility of colleagues, mentors, committee chairs, teaching forum leads, research section heads, the senior leadership team, and line managers to address persistent poor collegiality.
- We welcome and encourage constructive feedback.
