The chemistry of global warming outreach style!

Children learning thte chemistry of global warming

On Monday 20 March 2023, PhD student, Edward Lant (Analytical Science CDT), and Prof. Peter Sadler put on their lab coats (and matching multicoloured shirts!) to demonstrate the chemistry of global warming to St Nicholas Primary School children in Alcester.

About 400 4-to-11 year-olds learnt about greenhouse gases at the molecular level through fun demonstrations and practical experiments. All was explained with the help of candles, balloons, cardice (that's solid carbon dioxide or 'dry ice') and Warwick Chemistry shopping bags!

Prof Sadler said, "We enjoyed it and we think the children did too!"
