Awarded Honorary Degree at Chemistry Graduation Ceremony 2023

On 26 July, 2023, Professor Stanley Whittingham FRS, Nobel Laureate 2019, was awarded an honorary degree as part of the Chemistry graduation ceremony.

Professor Stanley Whittingham is a Nobel prize winning researcher in the field of energy storage, renowned for his pivotal contributions to the development of lithium-ion rechargeable batteries. Stanley is a professor at Binghamton University and is a member of the National Academy of Engineering and a Fellow of The Royal Society. He presently leads the Battery-NY economic development effort. Following the ceremony Stanley stayed to delivered a seminar, "The Lithium Ion Battery, from a Dream to Domination of Energy Storage – Future Opportunities and Challenges"
