Interesting Journal Articles
The group likes to keep on top of the most recent literature and so each member of Team Stavros is responsible for periodically checking a selection of journals. Any relevant or exciting papers are posted for everyone to enjoy.
Kinoshita et al.: Different photoisomerization routes found in the structural isomers of hydroxy methylcinnamate
These authors seem to agree that, in the gas-phase, non-radaitive decay of para-cinnamates involves triplet states - just like the Stavros group had suggested for ethyl ferulate in Rodrigues et al, Faraday Discuss., 2016, 194, 709! However, Kinoshita et al also found evidence for trans-cis isomerisation (like we saw in solution) after ~20 ns. Fascinating stuff!
