Throughout my studies, my focus is always on material. Before joining the DST CDT, I obtained my BSc from University of Manchester and MSc from Imperial College London, both in Material Science. My master project concentrates on the design and fabrication of a novel antimicrobial composite coating via electrochemical deposition. This experience enriched my knowledge about the characterization of nanomaterial and, most importantly, consolidated my aspiration to pursue a PhD so that I could apply what I learn from science to solve practical problems, i.e. industrial and manufacturing challenges. This PhD project, which is jointly organized by Element 6, provides me a perfect platform with guidance from both experienced academics and industry partners. Moreover, the world-class characterization equipment at the University of Oxford will help me deepen the understanding of microstructure of Polycrystalline Diamond (PCD). Lastly, a Msc study at Warwick will build me a solid background in PCD and enables me fully prepared for the upcoming fantastic research journey.

PhD Title: Towards the perfect neck for high pressure high temperature Polycrystalline Diamond(PCD)
PhD Supervisor: Professor Richard Todd & Professor Peter Nellist (University of Oxford); Dr Roger Nilen & Dr Ed Eardley (Element 6 Global Innovation Centre)
Institution: University of Oxford
