Jack Smith

I graduated from The University of Aberdeen in 2015, attaining First-class honours in Physics. I applied for a PhD in The University of Strathclyde's Institute of Photonics, as this is an area that has always interested me. At the interview I was told about another opportunity available with the CDT in Diamond Science and Technology in Warwick. After some research, it became clear that this offered me a fantastic opportunity to develop a firm and broad knowledge from which to progress to my PhD in Strathclyde. The structure of the Masters also makes it possible to make useful contacts in industry and academia

PhD Title: Tunable optical resonators with embedded diamond defect centres for quantum technologies
PhD Supervisor: Dr. Michael Strain
Institution: University of Strathclyde
