Diamonds are for Everything (free, fun filled lecture!)
You joined us for an hour of discovery as we explored why...
Diamonds are for Everything
University of Warwick, 10th July 2017
The DST team invited the audience to discover the amazing properties of diamond and where we can use this wonder material in exciting new technologies...
After a fun and light-hearted introduction to the remarkable properties and applications of diamond, members of the audience were invited to take part in interactive demonstrations including:
• Cutting ice with diamonds, like pushing a hot knife through butter!
• Watching quantum diamond sense magnetic fields
• Listening to how diamond can improve the purity of sound
• Exploring diamond’s role in making the next generation of cars
The audience needed no encouragement, with many hands flying up with each opportunity to get their hands on this incredible material. At the end of the lecture, we were bombarded with questions from new, young, and older fans of diamond hoping to learn more.
Diamond is the material of the future. Its applications are limitless and we are only now scratching the surface of this most amazing material. Our research teams are dedicated to uncovering its uses and finding new solutions to some of the world’s emerging challenges.
This evening would not have been possible if not for our fantastic audience! We would like to thank you again for your support, and we hope that you enjoyed it as much as we did.
