Siemens launch global innovation competition
Siemens Stiftung – the charitable foundation of Europe’s largest electronics and electrical engineering company – have launched a global hunt to find low-cost simple technologies that will promote sustainable development in some of the world’s poorest regions.
The empowering people. Award is looking for simple, innovative technologies to address critical issues across six areas of development:
· Water supply and waste treatment
· Energy
· Food and agriculture waste management & recycling
· Housing
· Health
· ICT
All entries will be showcased on a public, online database that aims to connect inventors with the bright ideas with NGOs and development organisations who can turn ideas into products and practical solutions.
Prize fund:
· 1st – 50,000 Euros
· 2nd – 30,000 Euros
· 3rd – 20,000 Euros
20 runners-up will each receive 5,000 Euros
Deadline for entries is 31st December 2012 at 12.00am EST.
