EngD Opportunities at the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC)

Applicants are invited from graduates with a variety of backgrounds, including manufacturing, mechanical, electrical/electronic and materials/metallurgy engineering, and applied sciences such as mathematics, chemistry, and physics who possess a minimum of an excellent first degree and can demonstrate an enthusiasm for interdisciplinary research.

The EngD programme offers an excellent scholarship package; applicants should have exceptional qualifications, preferably a First Class undergraduate degree or an MSc with Distinction in an appropriate subject. The minimum requirement is a good 2.1.

Applications will also be considered from those with work experience and accredited prior learning.

Graduate Research Engineers engaged in an Engineering Doctorate Programme will participate in an industry based-doctoral research project with research training in technical subjects and interdisciplinary skills.

Focusing on the key areas of advanced manufacturing that are vital to the UK’s major industrial sectors, this exciting opportunity will give successful applicants the opportunity to:

• Undertake a programme of intensive one-week academic modules

• Work on industry based research projects provided by industrial research partners

• Be supervised by international leaders in advanced manufacturing technologies

• Enjoy and utilise cutting-edge equipment and expertise of the Manufacturing Technology Centre

The Manufacturing Technology Engineering Doctoral Centre is funded by the UK Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council so our scholarships are only available in full for UK Home/EU students who meet the three-year UK residency criteria and fee status.

The programme has very limited opportunity for international students due to the source funding criteria. Only exceptional international students can be considered (unless self-funded with a sponsorship from your government, or with an international scholarships at one of the partner universities.
