Arkwright Computing Project

The basic bounds of the project are:

·  Max. timeframe for development: June to October 2013

·  Usage: ~1500 student applications are likely to be received between October 2013 and January 2014; and a similar amount every year thereafter.

·  Interfaces:

o  We are in the process of migrating our central database from Microsoft Access to SQL and the on-line application system would need to be able to interface with the new SQL database to allow data collected on-line to be transferred directly to the new database.

o  Ideally the application on-line system should either be a part of our existing website or be a system that can be integrated to our website so that users don’t notice when they move from one to the other.

·  Access Control: The on-line system will need to have access controls so that only schools that are affiliated to Arkwright, and authorised students within those schools, can enter data and submit applications.

·  Payment: we cannot pay the student a salary/fee but we are happy to reimburse reasonable travel and subsistence costs for any trips required to our office in Leamington Spa, and any reasonable incidental costs.

Emergency and Support Links

For emergencies or urgent safety concerns, please contact the University 24-hour Community Safety line: +44 (0)2476 522083. Community Safety operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

In the event of an emergency on campus requiring ambulance, police or fire brigade, call 22222 from an internal telephone. If you are on campus and you use a mobile to call for an emergency service (999), you should also then call 024 76 5 22222. This alerts the University Community Safety team and will enable the emergency vehicle to be speedily escorted to where it is required on the campus.

If you're struggling but it's not an emergency, please contact Wellbeing.

If you are a parent or guardian there is more information on what to do if you have concerns: warwick.ac.uk/services/wss/parents/#concern.
