The WindAid WorldWind - April 2014 - Breaking a World Record

WindAid has come a long way in the years since we installed our first wind turbine in the mountains of Peru, and it's thrilling to have recently gone back to some of those oldest WindAid 4.0 projects in the mountains in and around the city of Huamachuco and see the wind turbines there still turning strong. With word having gotten around, and more towns without energy nearby craving a solution, we are redoubling our forces to install still more turbines in the area. Not only are the mountains in focus, but I am extraordinarily pleased to say that WindAid is lighting up the lives of an entire town for our first time ever on the coast of Northern Peru. This is especially possible thanks to our newest WindAid 1.7 turbines, each small and mobile enough to be installed with a tiny footprint, and yet powerful enough to give light to up to five houses.
So please, friends old and new, read our WorldWind newsletter, see what we've been up to, and learn a little bit more about the adventures to be had here in Peru. If you know of anyone who might be interested in having the time of their life volunteering to install wind energy for a town in need in rural Peru, please pass this newsletter around to them. Especially students and professional colleagues have loved the experience, or post it on a message board so that all can learn more.
And if you are interested in volunteering here at WindAid, check out our four week programs. Also, don't forget our longer-term volunteering options that allow you to custom design your experience; working more profoundly with a community, designing a direct-drive wind turbine water pump, making a balancing machine for the blade system of both turbine rotors and blades, designing a wind turbine base, coming up with a flexible yet dependable control system, or any project where your imagination and intelligence can take you. We also offer tailor-made projects aimed at both University credit, and corporate growth with hands-on field experience.
Thank you for reading up on WindAid, and passing along this newsletter for anybody you think might be interested. Please do not hesitate to get in contact for any reason, and we hope to see you down here soon at WindAid!
