Summer Undergraduate Project Opportunity

The project would run during the summer vacation for 8-10 weeks - there is some flexibility as to exactly when, and we can usually work around any holidays that you may be taking in the summer. The project will be very applied in nature and will run in collaboration with the Physics department at Warwick. If you are interested then please contact Dr Simon Leigh (s.j.leigh@warwick.ac.uk) ASAP to discuss.
Project Title: Additive manufacture of graded impedance matching layers for air-coupled ultrasonic transducersAbstract: Ultrasonic transducers are used widely in many application areas, including vital sectors such as industrial, medical and defence. Successful use of ultrasonics in many applications is often limited by the sensor itself and advance material development is crucial to tackle many future challenges. In this project, we will aim to fabricate an impedance matching layer for use within an air coupled ultrasonic transducer assembly, using an advanced manufacturing technique such as 3D printing. This work is funded by industry and will look to build upon some excellent foundation work carried out on this topic at the university, previously.

Emergency and Support Links

For emergencies or urgent safety concerns, please contact the University 24-hour Community Safety line: +44 (0)2476 522083. Community Safety operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

In the event of an emergency on campus requiring ambulance, police or fire brigade, call 22222 from an internal telephone. If you are on campus and you use a mobile to call for an emergency service (999), you should also then call 024 76 5 22222. This alerts the University Community Safety team and will enable the emergency vehicle to be speedily escorted to where it is required on the campus.

If you're struggling but it's not an emergency, please contact Wellbeing.

If you are a parent or guardian there is more information on what to do if you have concerns: warwick.ac.uk/services/wss/parents/#concern.
