Equipment and maintenance status.

ALL AREAS

Electrical testing

• • Last undertaken and completed under Adrian Seymour's supervision, last week May & first week June 2022

F013 Dry Lab

• • Radiation

    • Both microscopes have additional lamps (Olympus microscope has metal halide lamp) capable of generating some UV.
    • Normal use of microscopes can continue, but the additional lamps generating UV are presently not in use, need to first establish operating procedure under recently updated guidelines highlighted by DPT at H&S Committee.

F013a Wet Lab

• • Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV)

    • Erlab recirculating hood (approved chemicals plus HEPA filtration for nanoparticle work): filters last updated by Chris from CSW 20.08.2020, service check 11.06.2021

  • Pressure systems

    • Autoclave: latest inspection 20.05.2021, records held centrally by Estates
    • Vacuum oven + pump: moved into lab 2021, oil filter to upgrade prior to bringing this into service

  • Ultrapure water dispenser:

    • cartridges last replaced 2021

  • Gilson pipettes

    • calibrated summer 2019, repeat in 2022

F012a Cell Culture Lab

• • Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) & MSCs

    • MSCII (Class II Safety Cabinet with UV facility): passed annual testing on 15.01.2021, failed 01.02.2022, awaiting replacement filters on 22.07.22

  • Gas bottles & monitoring

    • CO2 cylinder for incubator, managed by Chemistry [Sadler/Unwin groups]
    • Two CO2 monitors in room and procedure for monitoring detailed in Blue Folder, F012 foyer

F012b Histology Lab

• • Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) & MSCs

    • Erlab recirculating hood: filters last updated by Chris from CSW 20.08.2020, service check 11.06.2021
    • MSCII BH12-134 (Class II Safety Cabinet): passed testing after maintenance by Walkers 25.02.2021, passed 01.2.2022 

  • Pressure Systems

    • Prestige Medical Autoclave: latest inspection 20.05.2021, records held centrally by Estates
    • Freezer dryer + vacuum pump: not in current use but has correct oil mist filter fitted

  • Histology tools

    • Cryomicrotome: serviced when required. Last formal service by Leica in autumn 2012, book service autumn 2022

  • Freezers

    • -25 Sparkfree freezer, locked (temporarily in F012b until F012c reconfiguration is complete) -[HTA relevant material, Collingwood group]

F012c Freezer Room

• • Cryogens

    • Liquid nitrogen dewar [Cell Culture users from F012a - see SOP for LN2 and cell handling]

  • Freezers

-80 vertical freezer, locked (new vertical freezer, on but requires full commissioning with CO2 back-up) [HTA relevant material, Collingwood group, need to ensure with Jake that tissue register is updated, this is mainly what was in Freezer 1 (old U101)]

-80 chest freezer (additional space, non-HTA)  

+3 Sparkfree fridge, locked - [HTA relevant material, Collingwood group]

-80 freezer U101(OFF, only to be used in emergency, can be for HTA relevant material)
