Dr Zhenhui Yuan

Biography
I am leading the Connected and Collaborative Robotics Lab, where we focus on applying AI and advanced networking technologies to enable seamless collaboration between robot-to-robot and robot-to-human. I received my BEng in Software Engineering from Wuhan University, China, in 2008, and a PhD in Electronic Engineering from Dublin City University, Ireland, in 2012. I was a postdoctoral researcher (2012-2014) funded by Ericsson and Enterprise Ireland, and a visiting scientist at the Network Research Lab at UCLA (2014). Between 2014 and 2015, I was the 3GPP Delegate and Senior Research Engineer on 5G at Huawei (Shanghai). From 2015 to 2019, I co-founded and served as CTO of RobSense Technology (Hangzhou), a startup providing end-to-end robotic solutions for industry. RobSense has secured over 10 million RMB in venture investment. I joined Northumbria University (UK) as a Senior Lecturer in 2020, and I have been an Assistant Professor at the University of Warwick since 2023.
I currently serve as a Consulting Member (Telerobotics in Healthcare) at the Institute for Applied & Translational Technologies in Surgery, University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust, and as a Voting Member of the IEEE P1954 Working Group. I was also a Principal Investigator on a British Academy project. I have served as the Leading Guest Editor for special issues at IEEE Network, IEEE IoT Magazine, and IEEE IoT Journal, and as an Associate Editor for IEEE ACCESS, IEEE Transactions on Consumer Electronics, and the Journal of Pervasive Computing & Communications. I am the founding Chair of the VeSUS workshop ("6G-empowered Robotic Vehicles for Sustainable Development") which has been successfully held in IEEE VTC 2023/2024 and IEEE ICC 2025.
