Song Xiaoqingchina-flag-icon.png

Dr. Song Xiaoqing from the School of Mechanical & Vehicular Engineering, Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing, China visited Professor Roger Green in the Communications Systems Laboratory from November 2010 until October 2011. She worked on optical wireless communications network modelling and her work involved collaboration with other members of the Comunications Reseach Group also. Her background is in communications networks and vehicular technology, especially automated systems integration and network technologies, real-time scheduling, congestion control, and distributed real-time systems. She obtained her PhD in 2001, and has published work in the field of the development of a CAN-based simulation platform for vehicle integrated electrical systems and power technologies, thereby ranging from vehicle power electronics across to communications networks methodologies.

EU IRGSCIMA Project european-union-flag-icon.png

Dr Xiaobing Hu - Experienced Marie-Curie International Outgoing Fellow worked on this project from 2012-2015

Integrated Risk Governance (IRG) is a new challenging research topic that urgently demands effective models and algorithms as analysis. This project, by advancing a newly emerging concept in complexity science – spatial complexity inspired models and algorithms (SCIMA), developed a methodological platform of models and algorithms for the study of IRG problems. The methods developed took into account important spatial and/or temporal features in real-world risk systems, and integrated risk management considerations into the model development stage, so as to develop more effective and efficient tools to analyze risk systems and improve risk management.
