Background

Dr Xing Luo joined the School of Engineering at the University of Warwick in March 2011. He received the B.Eng. degree in Electronic Information Engineering from Xi’an University of Technology, China, in 2004, and the M.Sc. degree in Microelectronic Systems and Telecommunications with a Distinction (First-class) from the University of Liverpool, U.K., in 2006. His M.Sc. project was to investigate a nonlinear control strategy for a Homogenous Charge Compression Ignition (HCCI) engine. He received the Ph.D. degree from the School of Electronic, Electrical and Computer Engineering, the University of Birmingham, U.K., in 2010. His Ph.D. project was related to recycle exhaust energy by the scroll air motor/expander technology and the practical control strategy. He has researched and developed for two EPSRC projects, named as Development of a Novel Energy Efficient Magnetic Scroll Expander and Integrated, Market-fit and Affordable Grid-scale Energy Storage (IMAGES). The IMAGES project starting from September 2012 is one of EPSRC Grand Challenge Projects in energy storage and he is a key member in this project. He has published some good conference papers and journal papers, own one international patent with Professor J Wang and gained one best paper awards.
