Integrated Form-finding and Patterning of Fabric Structures

Researcher: Mr Stuart Gale
Project duration: 3 years
Supervisor: Professor Wada Lewis
Funding body: University of Warwick

Project Description

Recent research has shown that paterning of fabric structures can produce up to 150% stress deviation from the intended design pre-strss, depending on the accuracy of the modelling. This involves minimisation od errors associted with flattening of non-developable surafaces; a process dependent on the type of surface discretisation, choice of seam lines in the pattern (direction of cut and width of panels), and material properties.
