CALEBRE:
Consumer Appealing Low Energy Technology for Building Retrofit
Funding Body: EPSRC
Value: £500k (Warwick component)
CALEBRE is a collaborative project between a number of universities which aims to develop low energy technologies for building retrofit. The products developed will be installed in a test house at Nottingham University which has been built to 1930s specifications.
The University of Warwick's task is to install a gas-fired air source heat pump to provide space heating and hot water.
The proposed system has a predicted seasonal COP of 1.4 (the ratio of the heat output to the gas input) and will use 36% less gas than a condensing boiler.
