Capital Investment Fund Deadline
The School Research Committee is now inviting proposals for investment into research equipment and infrastructure. The headline points are:
• £200k in total fund (to be spent by July 2018) to support ~5 proposals;
• Minimum bids of 25k (incl. VAT);
• 1-page proposal required by 25th February (guidelines below).
Each proposal will be assessed by the Research Committee and ranked based on four main criteria (in no particular order):
• How well it is argued and evidenced that the investment will lead to high-quality research (i.e. in terms of both outputs and income);
• The case made for the proposal representing good value for money;
• A list of staff that it will potentially benefit;
• How clearly arrangements for maintenance and management of equipment have been considered.
The proposal should be no longer than one A4 page, with sensible margins and font size. Please use the following as headings for the proposal:
• What is being sought and why? (a brief overview)
• What research projects, grant proposals and outputs will this facilitate?
• Why does it represent a good return on investment for the School?
• Who will make use of the equipment? (academics, research groups, new collaboration, etc.)
• Who will maintain and manage the equipment, and where will it be located?
• The cost (incl. VAT) based on an initial quote or good estimate.
Please send proposals to Sarah Lewis, no later than close of business, Monday 25 February.
