1. The competition is open to Warwick-affiliated outputs published between 1 January and 31 December 2024. The competition is open from 8 January to 28 March 2025. Please see below for a summary of the timeline.
2. The following qualifying conditions apply in terms of minimum numbers of nominees:
- Where a department has fewer than five qualifying employees in post in the qualifying period, the faculty reserves the right to enter the prize candidates in a joint competition with those from a closely aligned discipline. This process will be managed by the Faculty Chair in consultation with the Departments concerned.
- Where only one nomination is received within a Department, the Faculty reserves the right to enter the nominee in a joint competition with a closely aligned discipline. Please contact the faculty team to discuss this after the nomination period has closed.
3. Membership of the Departmental judging panels should ideally include both male and female academics to the extent reasonably possible according to the academic composition of the department.
4. Self-nominations or nominations from colleagues are permitted.
5. To enter the competition, evidence should be provided in the form of a one-page statement summarising why the output is being nominated, and a copy of the output should also be submitted to the Departmental judging panel for consideration.
6. Where a department cannot decide on one single first prize winner, departments would normally be asked to provide funding for the additional first prize(s) at the same value (£500).
7. Departments are required to contact the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Medicine by 25 April with a brief summary of the judging process (including judging panel membership and justification for the choice of the winner) and details of successful nominee for ratification by the Chair of the Faculty. A feedback form will be sent out to department contacts which can be used to provide this information.
