Taught Masters (MSc) 2018-19

Minimum entry requirements

Second class honours degree (or equivalent) in a relevant branch of engineering or science from a good University.
Two academic references from your current/last institution.
English Language certificate (overseas candidates). The following qualifications with minimum grades are accepted:
• IELTS: Overall score of 6.5 with no component less than 6.0
• Cambridge Advanced (CAE): Overall score of 60+ (pass at grade C) - A minimum of 3 borderline and 1 weak component results
• Cambridge Proficiency (CPE): Any pass grade - In order to verify the CPE online, applicants need to supply their "secret number"
• Pearson Academic (PTE): Overall score of 62 with all components at 51+
There is a non-refundable online application fee for taught postgraduate courses of £55 for online applications.

Course duration

Twelve months full-time. Course start date: Monday 1st October 2018.

Application deadlines

The application deadline is by 31 July, however we recommend that you apply sooner in order to secure your place. Places are limited, so you should submit your application as early as possible.

Assessment

Modules use a variety of methods to assess performance, including: assignments, design exercises, practical work, examinations, tests and mini-projects. The project is assessed by a dissertation and an oral examination.

Outcomes

Passing the taught modules (50%) and successfully completing the individual project (50%) leads to the award of the MSc. Achieving 65% or more in both elements leads to the award of an MSc with Merit and 70% or more in both elements leads to an MSc with Distinction. A PgDip and PgCert can also be awarded.
