Maths at University an Afternoon for Year 12

Come along and experience what it's like to sit in a lecture theatre in the Maths Institute at Warwick, in this Face to Face event on Wednesday 11th February from 1pm-4pm.

You will find out more about maths-related careers and admissions tests, have the opportunity to speak to current Warwick Students studying on a maths degree and have a taster maths lecture. There will be an option to stay a bit later and have a tour of the maths department.

Aims

  • For students to visit a Russel Group University and be inspired to consider their own next steps to University
  • For students to experience a lecture-style session and have a taster of the way maths is approached at University
  • For students to be more informed about University Admissions Tests e.g. the TMUA which some universities use for admissions to maths, economics, computer science and statistics degrees.
  • For students to hear from Warwick Maths Undergraduates on their own experiences of maths at university and of university life
  • For any attending teachers to pick up valuable information and materials that they can use to support their students who are likely to progress onto a maths or maths related degree

Materials and Equipment

Students are asked to bring a refillable water bottle as well as something to write with and something to write on.
