Problem Solving and Fluency for KS5 - Teachers Event

Key stage 5 mathematics teachers from across the UK are invited to join an online training session from the University of Warwick on Tuesday 16 June, looking at problem solving and fluency.
** please note that this event has ran in previous years so if you have attended a previous iteration you will need to be aware that similar content will be covered**
The online session will by led by Fiona Kitchen, Warwick's Mathematics Outreach Centre Manager, and will explore pedagogical techniques related to the teaching of problem-solving. There will also be time given to look at strategies to foster mathematical fluency and problem solving in students as well as looking at creative ways of sourcing resources.

Aims
- To encourage, equip and support teachers in embedding problem solving into classroom practice
- To consider pedagogical approaches to teaching problem solving
- To give ideas for developing problem solving and fluency in students at KS5
- To provide an opportunity for attendees to discuss and network with wider colleagues
Who will benefit from attending?
This session will be most beneficial for teachers of A level maths. It will also be useful for teachers of Further Maths. The session will focus on pure maths and reasoning, with an emphasis on creative ways of enriching the curriculum.
Materials & equipment
A pack to accompany the session will be posted out to all those who register before midday on Wednesday 3 June.
The session will be held on the Teams platform. Details about how to join the meeting will be sent out closer to the time.
You are advised to use a headset or headphones with a microphone to provide the best sound quality and to prevent audio issues for other users. A laptop with a built-in webcam and microphone may be sufficient if you’re in a quiet area but please take the time to check this before the session.
In order to fully participate in the meeting please be willing to use your camera and microphone, although if this is not possible the chat option will be available.
