Gender Equality Award success for WMS colleagues
Gender Equality Award success for WMS colleagues
Congratulations to Kirstie Haywood who won the University’s individual award for Excellence in Gender Equality on 16 November 2022. The judges were particularly impressed with her active commitment to building more inclusive environments and experiences and sharing good practice. They described her work as an ‘outstanding performance.’
In addition, the WMS Athena SWAN Academic and Career Promotion sub-group were highly commended in the team award for their work around the early and mid-career network and mentoring and shadowing Scheme.
The Excellence in Gender Equality Award recognises those who have contributed to the enhancement of gender equality at Warwick by delivering on specific projects or initiatives and/or by actively demonstrating a commitment to building more inclusive environments and experiences through their behaviour.
On winning the award, Professor Kirstie Haywood said, “I am delighted to receive the award particularly as it was driven by peer nomination. The award is a reflection of all the fabulous work of the entire self-assessment team and our Athena SWAN champions. I am proud to work with such talented and hardworking people who really care about improving the community within which we all work.”
Professor Sudhesh Kumar OBE, Dean of Medicine said “Congratulations to Kirstie and our academic and career promotion sub-group, headed up by Keith Couper and Adele Kenny. These are excellent achievements, and they underpin the hard work of all those involved. It also demonstrates the School’s commitment to tackling gender inequality and embedding the values of Athena SWAN in all that we do. We have many activities and initiatives underway as part of our equality, diversity and inclusion work which will build on this award success and no doubt give us a strong position when the time is right to go for Athena SWAN gold.”
