Recognition and celebrating success
University of Warwick Awards
MB ChB Prizegiving
Postgraduate Research Symposium prizes
We're very proud of our staff and students and all they achieve. We celebrate School achievements in a number of ways.
Communicating achievements
Our staff and student achievements are communicated in the following places:
- The news feed on our website
- Our weekly newsletter
- Our social media accounts (LinkedIn, X, Facebook, and Instagram)
- Digital screens across the Medical School
- Staff meetings
We encourage the WMS community to tell us about their achievements and good news stories through a form on the intranet or by emailing our Marketing and Communications team directly: wms.comms@warwick.ac.uk.
University Awards
Warwick's University Awards take place every year, recognising teams and individuals for their fantastic achievements across several categories.
Warwick Awards for Teaching Excellence
The Warwick Awards for Teaching Excellence recognise teachers (including postgraduate student teachers) and personal tutors who have gone the extra mile to make a difference to their students' learning. All students and staff are eligible to nominate.
MB ChB and undergraduate prizes
Every year we hold a Prizegiving Evening for our undergraduate and medical students and staff, where we recognise students who have performed exceptionally over the last year. The evening also sees prizes awarded to members of our teaching team and GP practices nominated by our students for their commitment to medical teaching. In addition, on the day of graduation in the summer, we hold a special breakfast event with our Dean for our medical students who are graduating with honours.
Postgraduate research student prizes
We hold an annual Postgraduate Research Symposium, where all of our postgraduate students present their work, either orally or through posters, for the rest of the WMS community to see. At the end of the day prizes are awarded for the presentations and posters which receive the highest number of votes from the attendees.
Postgraduate taught student prizes
At our winter graduation ceremony we award prizes to the top performing postgraduate graduates for each of our courses.
Thanking colleagues
Sometimes just a thank you can make a huge difference. We have a simple online form on our intranet which can be filled out by staff and students (anonymously if they prefer) to thank a colleague. Their message is included in the next week's internal newsletter.
Merit Pay and Senior Performance and Remuneration Review
Together with the rest of the University of Warwick, we operate two recognition schemes to identify, recognise and reward sustained excellence of performance and contribution. Awards are made for excellent performance that contributes to the department’s ongoing improvement.
