Host-Pathogen Interactions International Symposium

University of Warwick, UK
May 13 – 14, 2013

We are pleased to invite you to attend and present at the host-pathogen interactions symposium.

Eukaryotic cells infected by pathogens are compromised at many different levels, because an extensive system of communication between the host and the pathogen is established via inter-species protein protein interactions. During infection, pathogens express a variety of virulence factors and effectors that are delivered into the host cell triggering cellular responses through interactions with host cell proteins which make the pathogen’s invasion and replication possible.

To decipher the molecular details of the communication between host and pathogen, it is necessary to identify the network of interactions as well as their biological consequences in the regulatory and metabolic network. It is these underlying molecular mechanisms that ultimately determine the epidemiology of infection of different hosts.

Workshop Purpose

Participants in this workshop will be exposed to the latest research focused on the relations between pathogens and hosts.

The purpose of the workshop is to define and discuss new methodologies and results, going from the knowledge of interaction components between pathogen and hosts to changes produced during the infection process in both organisms, and its implications in the research of new targets and the development of new drugs.

The workshop intends to integrate translational research involving both computational and experimental research.

Who should attend?

This workshop would be useful to students and researchers focused on specific pathogen infections. Participants coming from experimental, pharmaceutical and computational areas can benefit from the meeting. We are committed to promoting the careers of young investigators and will provide speaking opportunities for researchers at all stages in their careers. We will also hold a research idea competition for students and postdocs.

Call for presentations

We would like to invite talks or posters describing methodological innovations in the study of pathogen, host relations, including the following areas:

  • Transcriptomic studies of infection
  • Proteomic studies of infection
  • Dynamic systems modeling of infection
  • Pathogen-host protein-protein interaction networks
  • Functional mechanisms of infection
  • Signal transduction pathway interception
  • Comparative sequence analysis of infectious bacteria
  • Prediction of infectivity
  • Epidemiology modeling of infection
  • Structural biology of pathogenic systems
  • Systems biology-based drug discovery

We look forward to seeing you at the meeting! Please feel free to contact the organizer if you have any questions:
