Dr Shreeya Tewary, Obstetrics and Gynaecology Registrar based in the Division of Biomedical Sciences at Warwick Medical School, has been shortlisted for a Tommy’s Award presented by baby charity Tommy’s.

Now in its 23rd year, the Tommy’s Awards recognise heroes and families who’ve have been touched by pregnancy complications, or the loss of a baby. Shreeya has been nominated for the GSK Star Researcher Award, which celebrates someone who has demonstrated exceptional commitment to stimulating enthusiasm and interest in pregnancy complications research amongst the general public.

She was nominated by Nichola Rawstorne, who wanted to recognise Shreeya’s support and dedication in supporting her through having a baby through the SIMPLANT (Sitagliptin for IMPLANTation) Trial.

Nichola comments: “Shreeya has made a huge difference to ours and our family’s lives. We've had a very tough few years. My faith and trust in the universe has been tested, but after spending time in her care and getting to know her and seeing her dedication and commitment, I feel as though it has been restored.

"From the moment we met Shreeya and she explained the SIMPLANT Trial to us, we knew we were in the best hands possible, and not once did we second guess our decision, and every single five-hour round trip to Warwick from our home in Liverpool was worthwhile. Not only am I grateful for the difference she made to our lives, but the difference she will make and will have already made to so many other couples. It takes someone truly special to take on the task she did to set up and run a research trial and see it through with such dedication.”

The winners will be announced at a ceremony on 16 March. Good luck Shreeya!
