NICE guildelines on lipid modification 'two steps forward and one back'

MedWire News: New guidelines on lipid modification for primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease have been published by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) in the UK.

The new, beneficial, and potentially controversial aspects of the guidelines are assessed by Francesco Cappuccio (University of Warwick Medical School, Coventry, UK) in his commentary published in the British Medical Journal. A summary of the guidelines written by Angela Cooper and Norma O'Flynn (Royal College of General Practitioners, London, UK) is also published in the same issue.
