Closing date: 24 Sep 20

Full text: The Royal Society and the National Natural Science Foundation of China invite applications for the cost-share programme of their international exchanges scheme. This stimulates new collaborations within the natural sciences between scientists in the UK and China, with the aim to build lasting networks and strengthen emerging collaborations. Eligible subjects covered include physics, chemistry, mathematics, computer science, engineering, agricultural, biological and medical research, geography and experimental psychology, but exclude clinical medicine. Collaborations should be based on a single project involving the UK based applicant and the Chinese co-applicant. Both applicants must have completed a PhD, hold a permanent or fixed term contract in an eligible organisation and be based in their respective countries or institutions at the time of the application. Junior scientists, such as PhD students or postdoctoral researchers, are encouraged to participate. Up to £12,000 for the UK team’s airfare to China and the Chinese team’s subsistence whilst in the UK is provided. An additional £12,000 equivalent is available from NSFC towards the Chinese team’s airfare to the UK and the UK team’s subsistence whilst in China. Awards are available for a fixed period of two years.
