The following information is subject to change. *** The European Commission Horizon 2020: Excellent Science European Research Council invites proposals for its ERC-2021-CoG consolidator grants. These support principal investigators in establishing a research team. Research may be within in any discipline with an emphasis on science and engineering, and multi- or interdisciplinary projects are encouraged. Principal investigators may be researchers of any nationality, and should have been awarded their first PhD between seven and 12 years prior to 1 January 2020. Exceptions to the time frame are allowed for parental leave, long-term illness or national service. Projects must be carried out in a public or private research organisation based in an EU member state or associated country, but the applicant does not need to be working at the host institution at the time of applying. Applicants must spend a minimum of 50 per cent of working time in an EU member state or associated country and a minimum of 40 per cent of their working time on the ERC project. Team members may be of any nationality and may reside outside of Europe. Grants are worth up to €2 million over five years and an additional €1m may be requested for eligible start-up costs of moving to the EU or an associated country, purchase of major equipment and access to large facilities. Funding covers 100 per cent of total eligible direct costs and 25 per cent of total eligible indirect costs. Ref: ERC-2021-COG.
