Newton Bhabha Fund researcher links workshop – India

Full text:  The British Council, in collaboration with the Indian Department of Biotechnology and the Indian Council of Medical Research, and through the Newton Fund, invites applications for its researcher links workshop in India. This enables early-career researchers based in India and the UK to form new international connections with a potential for long-term sustainability and professional development. Applications are welcomed in the following priority areas: •agriculture and allied areas; •environment and circular bioeconomy; •biotechnology-education – research and policy for accelerated development of the sector; •health with a focus on vaccine development, biomaterial applications, brain research, ageing, immuno-engineering and metabolic engineering for pharmaceutical production; •AI and machine learning in health, agriculture, genomics and personalised medicine; •cardiovascular pharmacotherapy in Covid-19 infections; •bio-banking; •public health preparedness and response to emerging disease outbreak and pandemic; •capacity building of maternity care providers to improve perinatal outcome. Each proposal must have one principal applicant from the UK and one from India. Leading or established researchers based at publicly funded HEIs such as central or state universities or research institutions may apply. Grants cover travel, subsistence and additional workshop expenses.
