Innovation scholars secondments – biomedical sciences

Full text: *** The closing date for this opportunity has been extended. The previous deadline of 15 April has been extended to 1 July 2020. All other call details remain unchanged. *** Innovate UK, on behalf of UK Research and Innovation, invites applications for its call on innovation scholars secondments – biomedical sciences. This enables individuals from any discipline to spend time on secondment in the biomedical sciences sector. The objectives are to: •create porosity between sectors by enabling career mobility; •boost the skills, knowledge and career development of people; •intensify knowledge exchange between the biomedical industry and academia; •add value to the biomedical sciences sector and the UK economy by increasing productivity. The competition will achieve its objectives by supporting secondments to fund any activity that enhances the skills of, or provides career development for, the secondee and benefits the organisations involved. The secondee must work on an activity that works towards solving challenges within the host environment. Proposals can come from any discipline but either the seconding or host organisation must be a business within the biomedical sciences sector. Applications must be led by the seconding organisation that holds a UK bank account and is research and innovation active. Secondees must be resident in the UK, in employment within their organisation for the duration of the proposed project and named under the seconding organisation in the application. The host organisation receiving the secondee must apply as a non-grant claiming partner. Any UK business claiming funding must be eligible to receive state aid. The total budget is worth up to £5 million. Grants are worth up to £300,000 each over 36 months.
