ERC-2020-PoC proof-of-concept grants deadline

Full text: The European Commission Horizon 2020: Excellent Science European Research Council invites proposals for its ERC-2020-PoC proof-of-concept grants. These aim to maximise the value of ERC-funded research by funding further work to verify the innovation potential of ideas arising from ERC-funded projects. All principal investigators in an ERC frontier research project, that is either ongoing or has ended less than one year before 1 January 2020, may apply. The host institution must engage the PI for at least the duration of the project and must be established in an EU member state or associated country as a legal entity. Applicants may be of any nationality and be residing in any country at the time of application. The total indicative budget is worth €25 million. Approximately 167 grants are available, each worth €150,000 over 18 months. Ref: ERC-2020-PoC.

Ernest Rutherford fellowships - STFC deadline

Full text: The Science and Technology Facilities Council invites applications for the Ernest Rutherford fellowships. These enable early-career researchers from the UK and overseas to establish an independent research programme. Proposals should be in the fields of astronomy, solar and planetary science, particle physics, particle astrophysics, cosmology and nuclear physics. Applicants may be of any nationality and must not yet hold a permanent academic position. Fellowships may be held at any eligible UK research organisation. Candidates who intend to use the fellowship as a means of re-establishing themselves in the UK following a period overseas are welcomed to apply. Fellowships are tenable for five years and cover directly incurred costs, salary, travel, equipment and consumables, visas, publication costs and indirect costs.

Due to the implementation of a new UKRI funding system (TFS) there will be a fixed quarterly deadlines for some grants which would previously have been on open calls, this is to allow necessary system amendments and updates.
