Diamond
Diamonds contain colour centres and other defects. We work on identifying these and exploiting them in the engineering of material for applications as diverse as water quality sensors, single spin magnetometers and power electronic components.
Quantum Science and Technology
We use nitrogen vacancy centres (NVC) in diamond for magnetometry and to explore the possibility of building a quantum computer. We also levitate micron-sized diamonds towards testing fundamental physics.
